SFS - Specialty Firestop Systems

MANAGEMENT TEAM:

Kelly Hasting, President / CEO

Kelly brings over 20 years of management experience to the SFS team, 7 of those years directly in the firestopping industry. She also acts as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, handling all aspects of contracting, insurance, bonding, accounting and procurement. She administers all aspects of OCIP and CCIP and is also the UL Management Systems Administrator and Director of Quality Assurance and Quality Control. Kelly also secured and implemented a new take-off and auto estimating program to reduce time, costs and inconsistencies and to provide accuracy, quality control and increased capabilities for the company.

Tonnie Cavanias, Vice-President

Tonnie’s 40 years of experience in the construction industry began with the installing of nuclear seals (the precursor to firestop) and electrical circuit protection. His firestop experience spans the commercial, industrial and nuclear fields. He is the co-author of the Washington State Firestop/Containment Worker Apprenticeship Standard and is a current member of the Washington State Firestop/Containment Worker Apprenticeship Committee.

Bob Hasting, Chief Technical Officer and UL Designated Responsible Individual (DRI)

Bob brings over 32 years of experience in the construction industry, including the installation of nuclear seals and electrical circuit protection in the commercial, industrial and nuclear fields. Bob is Underwriters Laboratory’s UL Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for SFS’s UL Qualified Firestop Contractor Program. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Firestop Contractors International Association (FCIA) and is the Chairman of both the FCIA’s and the State of Washington’s Firestop/Containment Worker Apprenticeship Committee. Bob is the co-author of the Washington State Apprenticeship Standard for the Firestop/Containment Worker and is co-chair of the FCIA Education Committee. He is also a voting member of the UL 1479 and UL 2079 Standards Technical Panel.

SURVEY/BARRIER MANAGEMENT PLAN TEAM:

James Perry, Coordinator

James is a Journey level Firestop/Containment Worker, whom has acted as SOC survey leader on various project ranging from hospitals and healthcare facilities to projects for the largest computer chip manufacturer. James consults on Interim Life Safety Measures and reviews and advises on Life Safety Plans. He also develops site-specific Barrier Management plans.

Shawn Hogan, FSQA

Shawn is a Journey level Firestop/Containment Worker who conducts Barrier management for the largest computer Chip manufacturer in the world. He is also a third-party Compliance Inspector and has been Surveyor for numerous facilities ranging from healthcare to high-tech.

Trapper Martindale, Project Supervisor - Healthcare Facilities

Trapper is a Journey level Firestop/Containment Worker who currently supervises healthcare projects for SFS. He has supervised multiple projects on over 14 different healthcare facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest. He is also secondary DRI and certified by 3M, STI, Hitli and Unique Firestop as a Firestop Installer. Trapper is on the Firestop Containment Worker Apprenticeship Committee and volunteers as an instructor for the apprenticeship program.
