Apprenticeship
In 2005, SFS employees began working closely with a number of established apprenticeship coordinators to develop the first state and federally-accepted apprenticeship program for the Firestop / Containment Worker. After many months of planning, writing and procedural requirements, the goal was achieved. In October of 2006, SFS received the first recognized training standard in the nation for this occupation.

The apprenticeship standard is based on an 8,000-hour, four-year program that provides the industry with the most highly-trained professional workforce anywhere. The training includes important containment issues such as: code requirements and practical application of fire/smoke stop systems; sound, aerosol agent, pressure differential and air movement seals; and fire-rated wrap systems for grease or air ducts and electrical circuit protection.

Specialty Firestop is proud to be a leader in the industry and strives to provide the educated workforce that is uncommon in this very important “Life Safety” occupation.

What our clients say about SFS . . .
"Specialty Firestop Systems arose to the demand of what many believed as a next-to-impossible project schedule and approached each challenge with a 'can-do' attitude. The efforts of your field crew were exemplary. We simply could not have accomplished this project without your company’s efforts. Thank you again for the efforts of your company in helping us complete a complex project with a difficult schedule, while maintaining the highest level of quality available in the industry.”
