SFS can design a program to manage rated barriers within your facility or provide a full-service program to manage those important barriers for you.
Barrier Integrity Surveys: We will conduct a survey of your facility’s fire-resistance-rated barriers and provide a detailed report of items requiring remediation to comply with the “Maintenance Requirements” of the International Fire Code (IFC).
Maintenance/Remediation: Over the course of time, facilities change or add services, move or add rated walls, etc. during additions, renovation, remodels and upgrades. These changes may include new data/communications systems, gas and liquid piping, or HVAC upgrade, just to name a few. Many times these activities require bringing an older area of a facility up to a newer building code. The health care industry has additional requirements in order to maintain their accreditation and the Joint Commission has specific containment requirements.
SFS can help to establish an annual maintenance program to suit our clients’ building needs. The cost of this type of program is nominal in comparison to a complete retrofit of your facility. Doing this over a period of time can reduce expenditures on the facility and a cost savings can be attributed to properly sealing up floors and walls to prevent heat or cooling loss.
Firestop Systems Installation Services: All firestop installation services include:
Submittal packages;
Installation by registered Firestop/Containment Workers;
Interfacing with the General Contractor, Architect, Engineer and AHJ; and
Labeling.
Penetration logs including installer, type, location, etc. can also be provided at the clients’ request.
Construction Joint Firestopping: SFS can provide cost-effective solutions to the dynamic requirements for rated construction joints. Solutions include silicone and elastomeric caulks as well as the latest spray applications.

Head of wall joints for concrete, CMU and gypsum applications
Curtain-wall/Perimeter gap
Through Penetration Firestopping: Through-penetrations are our specialty. SFS can provide the types of systems or "Engineering Judgments" necessary to complete the most complicated projects.
